Ex-Pheu Thai MP jailed for falsely declaring assets | Bangkok Post: news

The Supreme Court for politicians has sentenced a former Pheu Thai MP to 12 months in jail for deliberately filing false asset declarations six times. The nine-member panel of the Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions on Thursday unanimously found Kasem Nimmonrat, 53, guilty of intentionally filing false asset declarations on six occasions - when he was adviser to the Chiang Mai Provincial Administration Organisation (PAO) chairman, Chiang Mai MP and Chiang Mai PAO vice-chairman. The case was filed by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), which accused him of acting unconstitutionally and violating Section 119 of the NACC Act. The court found Kasem had declared his wife Duangsuda had borrowed 72 million baht from his mother. It also confiscated 168 million baht from him.
